Hi Diane.  Great question!  When developers are building townhomes, the incremental costs of adding another bedroom or increasing the square footage are pretty low.  They&#039;ve already paid for the land, they&#039;ve secured permits and they have had the designs approved.  For the cost of a bit more material and labour, they can increase their return substantially as they can charge more for the larger home with more bedrooms, bathrooms, etc.  This tends to push the number of bedrooms and overall size of the house up.  The good news is that location has a big impact on price and we can absolutely find homes with great natural light and a bright open feeling at a lower price.
